A top location and a surrounding area worth knowing

Here we show you how close you will be to the heart of Madrid if you stay in our apartments

Plaza de España

Plaza de España

Just cross the street from our apartments to immerse yourself in one of the country’s largest Plazas de España (36,900 sq.m). Surrounded by little gardens and trees, in the center is a large fountain dedicated to Miguel de Cervantes and his two most illustrious characters, Don Quijote and Sancho Panza.

Above all this are two enormous buildings; Torre de Madrid (1957) and the Edificio España (1953).
The location of the plaza could not be better for you, since Calle Princesa and the famous Gran Via, two of the most emblematic streets of the capital, lead onto it.

Gran Vía

Gran Vía

This, without a doubt, is one of the most significant and best-known streets of Madrid.
Until recently, this was the street of the cinemas, but many of them have closed. Some have become the site of musical theater, making the area between Plaza de Callao and the Plaza de España known as the Broadway of Madrid.

Gran Via also has restaurants and numerous national and international fashion shops.

It is interesting to notice the buildings that compose it and their various architectural styles (historicist, French, rationalist, American style …)

Templo de Debod

Templo de Debod

It is difficult to see Egyptian buildings outside the country, except in museums, but in Madrid, very close to the Plaza de España, is the Temple of Debod, given to us by the Egyptians in 1968 for helping them to save other temples during the building of the Aswan dam.

It was disassembled stone by stone and rebuilt in the beautiful Parque del Oeste.
Inside it, you may view the typical hieroglyphics in the walls.

Almudena Cathedral

Almudena Cathedral

Just 800 m from our apartments is the Cathedral of Madrid, one of the most modern cathedrals of the European capitals (built between the 19th and 20th centuries). It combines several modern styles, such as neoclassical, neogothic and neoromanesque.

The building is dedicated to our Lady of the Almudena, patron of the city, and was blessed in 1993 by Pope John Paul II during his fourth trip to Spain.

Royal Palace

Royal Palace

Along with the Almudena Cathedral is the Royal Palace, built by Felipe V in the place where the alcazar was once located.
Its 135,000 sq.m and 3,418 rooms make this the largest Royal Palace in Western Europe.

It is surrounded by three lovely gardens; Plaza de Oriente, the Sabatini Gardens and the Campo del Moro.

Royal Theater

Royal Theater

Closing the monumental compound of the Plaza de Oriente is the Royal Theater, one of the most important in Spain and Europe.

It was inaugurated in 1850, but has been remodeled several times over the years.

Although it functions primarily as an opera house, other spectacles and events are also held there.

Puerta del Sol

Puerta del Sol

We are separated by 1.2 Km from the most active plaza in Madrid, the Puerta del Sol, where residents of Madrid  and tourists come and go constantly any hour of the day. This is a meeting place for shopping, going out at night, or simply taking a walk or going for a drink in the area.In it stands the mythical statue of the Oso y el Madroño (Bear and Strawberry Tree, symbol of Madrid), and in its center is an equestrian statue of Carlos III.Certainly, the most significant part of the plaza is the Casa de Correos (post office), specifically, its famous clock, with its bells that welcome the New Year at midnight on December 31.Since 1950, Puerta del Sol has been the starting point of the Spanish radial roads.

Prado Museum, Reina Sofía Museum and Thyssen Museum

Prado Museum, Reina Sofía Museum and Thyssen Museum

These three museums located in the Paseo del Prado form what is known as the Golden Triangle of Art. Housing a very extensive collection of paintings, they are among the most visited in the world.

The work of many artists can be seen on their walls; in the Museo del Prado are Goya, Velazquez and El Greco; the Museo Reina Sofia features Picasso, Dali and Miro, and in the Thyssen are Duccio, Jan van Eyck, Roy Lichtenstein and Lucian Freud.
